How can I change the flavour of my e-liquid?

If you don’t know where to begin, changing the flavour of your e-liquid can be tricky. Making the wrong decision at this stage can lead to a costly error that will muddy the taste of your new e-liquid. Mixing two different vape juices can also cause an imbalance of viscosity, which could lead to your coils burning out more quickly. The more juice that is wasted and the more coils that are wasted, the more money you waste. But don’t worry – this doesn’t need to be so!

Here we will explain the steps to follow in order to get the best flavour out of your new eliquid, and to avoid any unnecessary problems when changing. This guide is applicable to all MTL tanks and sub-ohm devices.

Cleaning Tanks or Pods

Cleaning your tank is a must when you change vape juice. It’s important to clean the tank before you add a new flavour. E-liquid can be thick, depending on the VG/PG ratio. Here’s a blog on how and why to thoroughly clean your tank. If you want a quick overview of the basic steps you can use these two procedures to achieve the level of cleanliness that you desire.

When using a pod that has built-in coils you should replace the entire pod. This will prevent any flavours from being ruined. It’s a good idea to keep extra pods in your device and swap them out whenever you want to try something new.

The Straightforward Clean

Remove the tank from your mod

Remove any remaining e-liquid from the tank or pod

Disassemble your tank completely

Pour all the components in a bowl, and wash them until the water runs clear. (If the tank is very dirty, dish soap may help).

Allow to air dry for 20 minutes.

Deep Cleaning

Remove the tank or pods from your mod

The e-liquid remaining in the tank should be disposed of.

Disassemble the tank or pod completely and discard the coil

Use a paper towel or cloth dampened with alcohol to clean any stubborn areas.

Rinse and wipe with warm soapy tap water until the water runs clear

Air-dry your clothes for 20 minutes

Change & Prime your Coils

When you put in a new coil, you should always prime it first. If you don’t add juice to the coils before inserting them into your atomizer it can ruin them and cause a “dry-burn” (also called an unpleasant taste which no vaper would want to experience). You can prevent this by priming your coils. Don’t worry, you don’t need a whole bottle of eliquid to prime your coils. Just 3-5 drops should be enough! If you do not soak and prime the coils completely, you can burn them almost immediately before using them. Wait between 5-10 mins after filling your tank before starting to Favorites carts. This will ensure that your coils have been primed. You can ruin your coil before you’ve even used it if you fail to prime it correctly. It is important to follow this process when you are switching out meshed coils and adding new pods into any pod vape kit.

You should always use a fresh coil when changing eliquids. This is because the vape juice from the previous liquid will be soaked into the wicking. If you add new liquids, but don’t change coils, the liquids will be mixed together. This can cause problems with viscosity and lead to coils burning out sooner than they should. The previous juice will be contaminated if you add new liquids. This imbalance should disappear after three to four full tanks if the coil does not burn out.

To get the best out of your device, it is important to replace your coils on a regular basis. To maintain flavour and performance, we recommend changing your vape coils every 1-2 week. You will usually be able tell when it is time to change the coil. You may notice that the flavour of the eliquid has changed and tastes less rich. Or, you may feel less of a hit or produce less vapour.

You can choose from a variety of coils on our website, and the process for changing them is fairly simple. Not sure when to change coils? Learn more here about coils and how to know when you need to change them! It will depend on what device you have, but in general, you’ll need to remove the tank and dispose of the remaining liquid. Remove the coil and replace it with the new one. You are now ready to go.
